How WWF & Impact Hub Are Working Together To Save The Seas
7 June 2018 - Impact Hub

WWF is one of the world’s largest conservation organizations with offices in more than 80 countries around the world — and Impact Hub is the world’s largest network focused on building entrepreneurial communities who create tangible solutions to the most pressing issues. One of the key issues that we face right now, and that unites both organizations, is environmental protection.

In an innovative and exciting company partnership, WWF and Impact Hub have teamed up to identify, accelerate and scale innovative solutions that have the potential to transform industries and their impact on our planet. By hosting programs and events around the world, designed to equip entrepreneurs with the tools they need to make change happen, this partnership has supported some incredible change-makers so far…

Here are just a few startups that are combating our carbon footprints:

Gr3n Recycling won the Impact Hub Milan fellowship in 2017, and used the partnership’s mentoring program to develop a new technology that allows the chemical recycling of some plastics. This chemical recycling gives indefinite life to the material, one of the biggest pollutants to our oceans.

Nuup Blue Drop Project is cleaning rivers to prevent ocean pollution. Collecting micro and macro plastics from riverbeds, this startup is working to reuse this discarded plastic as recycled packaging in the countries from which they are collected.

Sea Defense Solutions (SEADS) is aiming to provide a permanent solution to the problem of waste entering seas from rivers. By redirecting the flow of river waste, SEADS collects it and recycles it, before it ever reaches the coast.
