After a month-long virtual scouting effort led by Impact Hub across a global network of 16,000+ social innovators, AXA has chosen the three finalists for its Prevention with Impact accelerator program.
The number one global insurance brand (according to Interbrand) teamed up with Impact Hub in February to launch a worldwide campaign in search of one venture, with the mission of empowering people to live better lives through health and safety risk prevention.
Impact Hub sourced 230 applications from six continents. The top 10 were presented to AXA, of which five were voted on by their senior committee.
“We were impressed by both the quantity and the quality of the ideas received through this global challenge, and look forward to exploring how AXA can best partner with these outstanding entrepreneurs to deliver Prevention with Impact to our customers and communities worldwide,” said Alice Steenland, AXA’s Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer.
The three applicants selected as Prevention with Impact finalists are Alcove, ManagingLife, and Safely.nz.

Alcove uses the internet of things to keep the elderly and disabled safe. They combine real-time data from wireless sensors with that from other in-home and wearable consumer devices to promote independent living with better health, well-being and financial outcomes. Their revolutionary solution is proven to cut costs, reassure family caregivers, and save lives. |
Managing Life CEO and Founder Tahir Janmohamed |
ManagingLife is a pain management platform for patients and healthcare professionals that reduces the human and financial cost of pain through self-management, remote monitoring, and analytics. Effectively communicating and measuring pain helps get to the right treatment faster. 89% of consistent users say they can better describe their pain to their doctor and 75% feel more empowered. |
Safely.nz Co-Founder Duncan Faulkner |
Safely.nz is a safety management app that simplifies health and safety for SMEs (small and medium enterprises) by collecting business information and making recommendations for industry regulation compliance. Clients reduce their risk profiles in real time, reporting improved efficiency as well as reduced stress and anxiety. |
AXA’s 165,000 employees in 64 countries will vote for their favorite finalist as part of the company’s annual Corporate Responsibility Week in June. The winning venture will receive a €50,000 scaling grant and travel to London in July to participate in a seven-day custom acceleration program. In the three months that follow, the team will develop a scaling plan with continued support from Impact Hub and a variety of AXA coaches. They will then pitch the final plan to AXA, with the ultimate goal of further collaboration in the form of investment, partnership, or other appropriate model.
